Art Beat Bay Area features reviews, news, and information about the visual arts scene in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was founded and created by art writer Cherie Louise Turner, who has written about art for over a decade and has been published in ArtNews and Artweek, and online at Art in America, among other publications; she is also a regular contributor to art ltd. and Visual Art Source.

Cherie has a strong populist belief about art; it should be available to and appreciated by as wide an audience as possible. She feels the same about art writing; it should be understandable and interesting to the larger public in order to encourage dialog and foster understanding, and demonstrate the relevance and importance of art for us all.
